Southern Delta Aquariids in Cairo

The Southern Delta Aquariids meteor shower peaks from Cairo around Jul 29-30, with up to 25 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a bright moon will hide most meteors except the brightest, and from Cairo the radiant in Aquarius climbs to 44° above the south horizon around 03:00. Local best viewing window: 23:55–04:40 EEST on the peak night, about 4.8 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 25/hour headline figure works out to roughly 17 meteors an hour from Cairo under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: some cloud about, but gaps should be frequent.
