Southern Delta Aquariids in Madrid

The Southern Delta Aquariids meteor shower peaks from Madrid around Jul 29-30, with up to 25 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a bright moon will hide most meteors except the brightest, and from Madrid the radiant in Aquarius climbs to 33° above the south horizon around 04:20. Local best viewing window: 02:05–05:15 CEST on the peak night, about 3.2 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 25/hour headline figure works out to roughly 14 meteors an hour from Madrid under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: partial cover — worth checking again closer to the time.
