The Southern Delta Aquariids meteor shower peaks from Nairobi around Jul 29-30, with up to 25 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a bright moon will hide most meteors except the brightest, and from Nairobi the radiant in Aquarius climbs to 75° above the south horizon around 02:40. Local best viewing window: 22:25–05:20 EAT on the peak night, about 6.9 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 25/hour headline figure works out to roughly 24 meteors an hour from Nairobi under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: limited visibility; a site a short drive away may do better.
