Southern Delta Aquariids in Zurich

The Southern Delta Aquariids meteor shower peaks from Zurich around Jul 29-30, with up to 25 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a bright moon will hide most meteors except the brightest, and from Zurich the radiant in Aquarius climbs to 26° above the south horizon around 03:30. Local best viewing window: 02:40–03:40 CEST on the peak night, about 1.0 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 25/hour headline figure works out to roughly 11 meteors an hour from Zurich under a genuinely dark sky. The radiant stays low from Zurich, so expect fewer meteors but longer, shallower trails near the horizon. Tonight: mostly cloud-free — light pollution will be the limiting factor.
