The Geminids meteor shower peaks from Lisbon around Dec 13-14, with up to 120 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a thin crescent moon leaves mostly dark skies, and from Lisbon the radiant in Gemini climbs to 84° above the south horizon around 02:35. Local best viewing window: 21:10–06:10 WET on the peak night, about 9.0 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 120/hour headline figure works out to roughly 119 meteors an hour from Lisbon under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: thick cloud for much of the window.
