The Geminids meteor shower peaks from Toronto around Dec 13-14, with up to 120 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a thin crescent moon leaves mostly dark skies, and from Toronto the radiant in Gemini climbs to 79° above the south horizon around 02:20. Local best viewing window: 20:40–05:55 EST on the peak night, about 9.2 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 120/hour headline figure works out to roughly 118 meteors an hour from Toronto under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: overcast throughout, so expect nothing visible.
