The Geminids meteor shower peaks from Zurich around Dec 13-14, with up to 120 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a thin crescent moon leaves mostly dark skies, and from Zurich the radiant in Gemini climbs to 75° above the south horizon around 02:25. Local best viewing window: 20:40–06:10 CET on the peak night, about 9.5 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 120/hour headline figure works out to roughly 116 meteors an hour from Zurich under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: mostly cloud-free — light pollution will be the limiting factor.
