The Lyrids meteor shower peaks from København around Apr 22, with up to 18 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a half moon will wash out fainter meteors, and from København the radiant in Lyra climbs to 58° above the south-east horizon around 02:55. Local best viewing window: 23:20–02:55 CEST on the peak night, about 3.6 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 18/hour headline figure works out to roughly 15 meteors an hour from København under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: some cloud about, but gaps should be frequent.
