The Orionids meteor shower peaks from København around Oct 21, with up to 20 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a bright moon will hide most meteors except the brightest, and from København the radiant in Orion climbs to 50° above the south horizon around 05:30. Local best viewing window: 01:00–05:45 CEST on the peak night, about 4.8 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 20/hour headline figure works out to roughly 15 meteors an hour from København under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: some cloud about, but gaps should be frequent.
