The Orionids meteor shower peaks from São Paulo around Oct 21, with up to 20 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a bright moon will hide most meteors except the brightest, and from São Paulo the radiant in Orion climbs to 50° above the north horizon around 04:10. Local best viewing window: 01:00–04:10 UTC-03 on the peak night, about 3.2 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 20/hour headline figure works out to roughly 15 meteors an hour from São Paulo under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: fully overcast — little chance of a clear gap.
