The Orionids meteor shower peaks from Zurich around Oct 21, with up to 20 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. Local best viewing window: 01:10–06:10 CEST on the peak night, about 5.0 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 20/hour headline figure works out to roughly 17 meteors an hour from Zurich under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: mostly cloud-free — light pollution will be the limiting factor.
