The Ursids meteor shower peaks from Dubai around Dec 22, with up to 10 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. In 2026 a half moon will wash out fainter meteors, and from Dubai the radiant in Ursa Minor climbs to 35° above the north horizon around 05:35. Local best viewing window: 02:55–05:35 UTC+04 on the peak night, about 2.7 hours of astronomical darkness. Scaled to that altitude, the 10/hour headline figure works out to roughly 6 meteors an hour from Dubai under a genuinely dark sky. Tonight: intermittent cloud, so patience pays off.

How to Watch from Dubai
- Find a dark spot away from city lights — parks, hilltops, or rooftops work well
- Lie on your back and look straight up — no telescope needed
- Give your eyes 20 minutes to adapt to the dark
- Face north — Ursa Minor reaches 35° at 05:35 UTC+04, its highest while the sky is still dark
